They promote this belief by providing supportive services and educational programs in communities like Spokane.
At the heart of the effort is the Exchange Parent Aide program, where Parent Aides are professionally trained and supervised individuals who work in the homes of families to provide education and support. Parent Aides are mentors for families.
The mission at Spokane Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Center, also known as SCAN, is “keeping children safe from abuse and neglect through education, training, and mentoring”. To fulfill this mission, SCAN serves 250 families per month through programs that help reunite and strengthen families by providing individual and group counseling and parenting education, monitored visitation and reunification of parents with their children, and fatherhood support and training programs.
